Fire service to launch automated fire safety compliance system to modernise regulation
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is to launch and implement an Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a technology-driven platform designed to transform fire safety regulation across the country.
The initiative, announced in a press release dated February 13, is aimed at replacing slow, paper-based processes with a streamlined digital system accessible to the public.
According to the GNFS, AFCAS will serve as the main platform for public interaction with the Service, enabling faster and more transparent compliance checks for homes, shops, factories, offices, and public buildings.
The system will support efficient scheduling of inspections, real-time monitoring of safety compliance, early identification of fire risks, and data-driven planning to enhance fire safety nationwide.
By standardising fire safety procedures, AFCAS is expected to reduce unfair practices and ensure uniform application of regulations, thereby building public trust and confidence.
The GNFS urged property owners, businesses, and the public to embrace the system upon launch, emphasising that fire safety remains a shared responsibility.
