Retired ACP Quaye elected 2nd Vice-President, IAWP
In a historic moment for the International Association of Women Police (IAWP), Dr Patience Ashorkor Quaye, has been elected as the second Vice-President of the organisation.
This marks a significant achievement not only for Dr Quaye but for the entire African continent, as she becomes the Second African to hold this prestigious position in the IAWP’s over 100-year history.

Dr Quaye, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Ghana, has long been recognised as a pioneering force in the fight for justice, equality, and the protection of vulnerable populations.
Her remarkable career in law enforcement spans decades of dedicated service, during which she has become a well-respected figure both in Ghana and on the international stage.
Known for her integrity, intelligence and compassion, Dr Quaye has consistently been an advocate for women, children, and the marginalised, earning her the trust and admiration of communities worldwide.
Her career highlights include distinguished roles within the Ghanaian police force, such as working with the Special Branch now the National Investigation Bureau, Interpol, and the Criminal Investigation Department.
She also served as Deputy Commandant of the Police Academy, where she played a key role in shaping the next generation of law enforcement officers.
Investigative skills
A passionate advocate of rigorous training and professional development, Dr Quaye has led various teams to success on numerous projects, further establishing her as a leader and visionary in her field.

Dr Quaye’s relationship with the IAWP began in 2005 when she was introduced to the organisation during an investigation in collaboration with the UK’s Metropolitan Police.
Her exceptional investigative skills quickly distinguished her, leading her to become a life member and later the coordinator for Africa.
During her tenure, she played an instrumental role in restructuring the organisation’s representation across the continent, advocating the division of Africa into five regions to ensure more effective coordination. Her work as Region 18 Coordinator, overseeing 16 countries, solidified her legacy as a transformative leader within the IAWP.
Beyond her administrative and leadership roles, Dr Quaye is also a scholar and educator. She has been a trainer at the Police Academy, Detective Training Academy, and Police Training School, while also lecturing at Wisconsin International University College in Accra on topics such as Security Management, Forensic and Investigative Psychology.

Her academic accomplishments are extensive, including a PhD in Christian Counseling from America Bible University and multiple degrees from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), highlighting her commitment to both education and spiritual guidance.
