Kade teacher assault: GES orders probe after viral video of unreported attack

The Ghana Education Service has condemned the assault on a teacher of the Kade Senior High Technical School after a video of the incident circulated on social media.

In a statement issued in Accra on December 10, 2025, the Service said it had taken note of the footage, which showed some past students of the school attacking Mr Michael Quayson, a teacher at the institution.

The Service said preliminary reports showed that the incident took place on October 5, 2025, when the former students confronted Mr Quayson after he prevented one of them from joining the Christian Religious Studies WASSCE 2025 paper.

The GES said the matter was not reported to school authorities or its offices until the video surfaced online.

It said steps had since been taken to address the issue and that investigations were underway.

The statement described the conduct of the individuals involved as unacceptable and unlawful.

It said their actions undermined the dignity of the teaching profession and that the appropriate sanctions under school regulations would be applied.

The GES assured teachers across the country of its support in matters related to discipline and examination integrity.

It urged students to uphold discipline and respect authority at all times.

The statement was signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations of the Ghana Education Service.
