Anniversary
The Chairman of the Committee of Elders of the church, Mr Charles Oddoye, told the Daily Graphic at the blood donation exercise recently that the church believed that donating blood to the NBB would go a long way to help the public, including the church members.
“If we donate blood, we help people and save lives, including ours, because you don’t know when you or your loved one would be in need of blood,” he said.
Mr Oddoye said the church undertook a similar exercise when it celebrated its 40th anniversary and had since made it a regular activity.
“We began this initiative in 2007 and it has since become an annual event organised in support of the NBB,” he explained.
The church members were screened for eye, ear, nose and throat infections as well as high blood sugar, among other health conditions.
Collective duty
The Communications Director for the anniversary, Elder Horace Nkansah, expressed the hope that more churches would come on board and not donate blood only but also assist the needy in every way possible.
