Mampong: Oheneyere fetes children
Mrs. Janet Dorothy Gyimah-Kessie, the wife of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Mamponghene has been commended for the love and passion for children.
The commendation came from Nana Agyenim Boateng, a divisional chief of Botoku/Tunsuom in the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, when Mrs Gyimah Kessie feted some children in Mampong during the New Year festive occasion.
Oheneyere Gyimah-Kesse has over the years set aside a day during Christmas to entertain children.
The programme, which has become a yearly affair took a different turn this year as about 1500 children drawn from various areas in Mampong and nearby villages were feted.
A dancing and a quiz competition formed part of the activities for the day.
The winners and runner ups in the competition were given cash prizes ranging from GH¢50, GH¢100 and GH¢150.
Mrs. Gyimah-Kessie said it has always been an excitement to see children happy during such festive occasions.
