Ministerial advisory board inaugurated to guide Defence Ministry

A Ministerial Advisory Board (MAB) for the Ministry of Defence has been inaugurated in Accra to help provide strategic guidance on policy direction, national security priorities, and stakeholder engagement.

The board is expected to offer independent counsel on defence policy adjustments, operational strategies, and emerging security challenges, while strengthening collaboration between the Ministry, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other key national institutions.

The Advisory Board chaired by the Acting Minister for Defence, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson was inaugurated on Monday (December 29, 2025).

Other members of the Board are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, and the Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi.

The rest are the Chief Director at the Ministry of Defence, Emmanuel Agbenyega Kartey, Chief Director at the Ministry of Finance, Patrick Nomo, a financial expert, Robert Gyang and a Geomatic Engineer with the Ghana Institute of Surveyors (GhIS) Beatrice Akpene Kom. 

Dr Ato Forson expressed the hope that the board would play its role in advising the ministry on adjustment in policy directions, planning objectives and operational strategies as well as promote constant interaction between the ministry and its major stakeholders.
