A statement issued by the university indicated that members of the public who wished to be considered for a UG sticker could submit an application to the Director of Physical Development and Municipal Services.

The new directive follows the suspension of the controversial user charges (tolls) by the university  last week at the request of the government through the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

The university last week suspended the collection of its road tolls after a promise by the government to pay for the maintenance of their newly constructed roads and absorb the loan the school took to reconstruct the roads.

In a press release issued last Thursday, the university said the new measures would take effect from March 15, 2014.

According to the university, the objective of the directive was to re-establish and maintain a serene atmosphere that was conducive to academic work.

Motorists using the university’s roads will be restricted to the stadium entrance of the schools which will remain open for 24 hours a day.

Vehicles entering the university by the stadium gate will be required to exit campus by the same route.

The statement said all other entry points, including the one at the link gate on the road from Achimota and on the Haatso road, would not be open to the general public.

Vehicles with a UG sticker may, however, enter through any of the designated points.
