Ohio State University donates to Mawuli SHS
The Ohio State University in the United States of America (USA) has donated a solar panel and accessories to the Mawuli Senior High School in Ho to help alleviate the impact of the energy crisis on the students.
This was the second donation to the school from the American university, which funded a drip irrigation project for the agricultural department of the school, in 2014.

Study abroad programme
The university has over the past 10 years, supported communities, hospitals and schools in the region, with various donations, under its study Abroad Programme.
An agriculturist at the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church farms in Ho, Mr Dickson Asase, presented the solar panel on behalf of the university to the Headmaster of the school, Mr Kwame Tawiah Aggor.
OMSU year groups
In a related development, some year groups of past students of the school, known as the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) and well-wishers of the school, have donated a total of 806 desks to the school.
They are; OMSU in North America -210 desks; OMSU in United Kingdom - 200 desks; OMSU 86 year group -101 desks; OMSU 88 year group -100 desks; OMSU 98 year group - 150 desks; and OMSU 99 year group -15 desks.
The rest are OMSU staff -14 desks; Colonel (rtd) Dr Francis Kwashie -five desks; Dr Yao Amengor in Germany - five desks; Mr Justice Kofi Dzebre – three desks; Mr Delali Nutsukpo - two desks and Miss Patience Dzantor - one desk.
Commendation
Making the presentation, the National President of OMSU, Madam Edem Dzani, commended the donors for responding to an appeal to support the school, indicating that, the school lacked a number of amenities and called on other year groups to organise themselves to pool resources and give back to their alma mater.

Mr Aggor praised the donors and indicated that there were plans to expand the dinning hall block which also served as a chapel, as well as an entertainment hall.
