Oti Region: Son, 23, arrested for alleged beheading of father

The Jasikan District Police in the Oti Region have arrested a 23-year-old man, Innocent Owusu, for the alleged murder of his 59-year-old father, Peter Owusu. The incident occurred on December 30, 2025, at the family residence in Likpe Abrani.

According to a press release issued by the Oti Regional Police Headquarters, the suspect fled the scene after the act but was subsequently apprehended. 

"The suspect, after committing the act, bolted but based on intelligence, he was arrested at his hideout in the forest of Abrani," the statement detailed.

The police confirmed a gruesome discovery during their investigation. "The decapitated body and head of the deceased have been recovered by the Police and deposited at Hohoe Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy," the release stated.

Suspect Innocent Owusu is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation. 

The Oti Regional Police Command acknowledged the community's role in the arrest, noting, "The Oti Regional Police Command commends the people of Likpe Abrani for their swift assistance offered to the police to arrest the suspect."

In the wake of the tragedy, the police also expressed sympathy to the family. "The Command extends the condolences of the Police Administration to the bereaved family at this moment of grief," the release concluded.
