Man who made 'inciting comments to threaten Bawku peace' arrested by police
A man who made comments on social media in what the police say has the tendency to threaten the peace in Bawku and surrounding communities has been arrested.
The suspect, identified as Raphael Azare Kariyama, was apprehended through an intelligence-led operation aimed at curbing the spread of content that incites violence.
In a press release dated January 31, 2026, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police said the suspect was in police custody and will be arraigned.
Police efforts are also underway to arrest other accomplices linked to the case, the police added.
The CID has warned the public against making, publishing, or sharing inciteful statements, emphasising that such acts undermine national security and social cohesion.
