Tullow, Jubilee partners support June 3 disaster victims with GH¢500,000

Tullow Oil and partners working in the Jubilee Oilfield have presented a cheque for GH¢500,000 to the 37 Military Hospital to help it treat victims of the recent flood and fire disaster that occurred at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra on June 3, this year.

The Managing Director of Tullow Oil, Mr Charles Darku, led a delegation from the company to the hospital. He said the gesture was the company’s way of comforting the victims  as well as sympathising with the country “it is appropriate that we also share in the plight of the victims," he said.

Mr  Darku urged the public to ensure their safety and be on their guard all the time in order to avoid falling into adverse circumstances.

The Country Manager of Kosmos Energy, Mr Ken Keag, said the gesture was the companies’ “widow’s mite’” to the survivors of the incident and also a responsibility they owed the victims as a corporate organisations.

“We are here to partner the country both in the good and the bad times; this is our ‘widow’s mite’ to assist the hospital in taking care of the injured persons,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum, Mr Ben Dagadu, commended Tullow Oil and the Jubilee Partners for their kind gesture. He said their move would supplement efforts the government was making to sustain victims of the incident.

Col Samuel Adjei, Commanding Officer of the 37 Military Hospital, on behalf of the patients and the hospital, expressed gratitude to the Jubilee partners for the donation.
