‘Good oral health builds confidence’
“Oral hygiene is something that should not be taken for granted. When children have bad breath, they don’t have the confidence to speak when they are in the midst of their peers. They tend to keep to themselves because, people do not want to mingle with them”, she added.
She also indicated that when the dentition of children is not correct, they couldn’t even laugh heartily in public because they were shy and fear they would be ridiculed.

Mrs Anaba gave the advice when the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, a religious organisation committed to the social transformation of the deprived, organised an oral health sensitisation and screening programme for basic school pupils of the Nima Cluster of Schools in Accra.
The aim of the programme was to inculcate in the pupils, basic oral hygiene practices, screen them for dental conditions as well as educate them on the need to uphold good morals in society.
The pupils were taught the correct way to brush their teeth and how to keep it healthy.
After the dental screening, 184 of the pupils who were found to have various dental conditions were referred to the Maamobi Polyclinic for medical care.

Mrs Rosemond Anaba, together with some associates of EAM, presented Oral B toothpastes, tooth brushes, and floss to the pupils.
Gratitude
The assistant headmistress of the Nima ‘1’ Basic School, Miss Miriam Ami Kwaw Nunoo, expressed her appreciation to EAM for their kind gesture. She pledged her commitment to ensure oral health was given the necessary attention in the school.
