Akufo-Addo to deliver final message on the State of the Nation on Jan 3, 2025

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his. message on the state of the nation in Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, ahead of the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on January 6.

The message is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

The 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will be dissolved on Monday, January 6, 2025. On the same day after which, the 9th Parliament will convene at 11:00 PM to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.

The Speaker-elect and members of Parliament-elect would be sworn into office at midnight.

Per custom, Parliament will take a short break after that, and later meet in the morning for the President-elect and the Vice President-elect to also take their oaths of office and secrecy in Parliament 

A statement from the Parliamentary Service announced that the Speaker-elect and newly elected Members of Parliament will be sworn in at midnight, transitioning the legislature to its next term.
