President Mahama appoints MMDCEs for Greater Accra

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 29 persons as chief executives of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies(MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region.

Key among the nominees are the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 parliamentary candidates for Tema Central, Ebi Bright, and Weija-Gbawe, Felix Odartey Lamptey, as Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Weija-Gbawe, respectively.

The appointment is the full complement of the positions of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, which has 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

The President further named Abdulai Mahmud as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole-Bamboi in the Savannah Region and Masud Musah Ayaaba Thomas as DCE for Atebubu-Amantin in the Bono East Region.

The appointments were announced via a statement by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim.

The nominees will have to be approved by at least two-thirds of the members of their respective assemblies.

The latest nominations bring the total number of MMDCEs appointed by the President to 183 out of the 261 nationwide, with some already confirmed by their respective assemblies.

With the President nominating chief executives for the 29 MMDAs in the Greater Accra Region, it is left with the appointments of MMDCEs for the Eastern Region, which has 33 MMDAs and that of the Ashanti Region which has 42 more to go after the nomination and confirmation of Richard Ofori-Agyeman Buadi as MCE for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

The rest of the nominees for the Greater Accra Region are Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, Shai Osudoku; Samuel Tetteh Kwarshie Morton, Kpone Katamanso; Raphael Uriel Nartey, Ningo Prampram; Freeman Tsekpo, Ashaiman; Ella Esinam Nongo, Adentan; John Desmond Sowah Nai, Ga West; Edmund Agboh, Ga East; Moses Kabu Kabi Ocansey, Ga South; Akwetey Agbo, Ga North; Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, Ga Central; Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, Ada West; Kenneth Kabu Kanor; Ada East; Michael Mensah, Ayawaso West Wuogon; Haruna Mohammed Awal, Ayawaso North; Rudolph Collingwoode-Williams, Ayawaso Central, and Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, Ayawaso East.

The others are Frank Nkansah, Ablekuma Central; Adamu Mussah Kalamu, Ablekuma North; George Kpakpo Allotey, Ablekuma West; Christian Tetteh Badger, Okaikwei North; Israel Adjetey Otchweemah,Ledzokuku; Paul Afotey Quaye, Krowor; Alfredos Nii Anyetei, La Dadekotopon; Ludwig Teye Totimeh, Tema West; Ibrahim F.
