Gushegu DCE interacts with communities

Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini,  the Gushegu District Chief Executive (DCE), has assured the people of government’s commitment to address problems of rural communities to raise their standard of living.

He said government would continue to partner with the private sector and development partners to implement various social, agricultural and economic interventions to help address poverty.

The DCE gave the assurance, at the weekend, at Zinindo, a farming community near Gushegu at the end of a three-day visit to about 40 communities in the district to interact with the people and inspect ongoing projects.

The areas visited included, Kpugi, Yishei, Wantugu, Gbagu, Kpahikpaba, Kpatinga, Kutung, Naganga, Bogu, Gaa, Damankung, Zamashigu and Galwe.

Alhaji Fuseini said 15 communities were to benefit from the rural electrification project in the district.

“Currently, nine of the electric projects have been completed pending inauguration, while six others will be completed early next month. Once all are completed, the district will take advantage of the presence of high tension poles to connect nearby communities,” he said.

He said the government,  in the last four years had built 39 three-unit classrooms and 18 six-unit classrooms while schools under trees would be provided with permanent structures.

To ensure access to quality healthcare delivery and sanitation he said nine clinics had been completed while 20 communities had benefitted from the Community Led Total Sanitation project, to reduce the menace of open defecation in the district.

At Kpatinga, Alhaji Fuseini announced that the community would soon benefit from one of the 200 new senior high schools President John Dramani Mahama promised.

He advised the people to take advantage of the various agriculture projects to embrace modern technologies to increase their yield to enable the district to be food secured and reduce malnutrition. — GNA
