The High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition challenging the declaration of the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, as the winner of the 2024 Parliamentary election in Suhum.
In a judgment today (Dec 18, 2025), the court, presided over by Justice George Krofa Addae, stated that the petition filed by Kwadjo Asante, an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary election, lacked merit.
Specifically, the court was of the opinion that the petitioner’s witnesses could not adduce evidence to support his case, adding that none of the witnesses he called during the trial was his polling agent during the election.
The Court also found that Asante could not prove that any of his supporters were prevented from voting at the polling station.
It further added that all the agents of the petitioner in all the 166 polling stations signed the pink sheets without any protest.
Dismissing the case, Justice Addae awarded cost of GH¢200,000 against the petitioner.
