President Mahama committed to Zongo communities — Alhaji Jaja

The Founder and the Chairman of Zongo For Mahama (ZFM), Alhaji Mohammed Sofo Jaja, has given the assurance that President John Dramani Mahama will not discriminate against the Zongo communities in the distribution of the ‘national cake.’

In line with this, Alhaji Jaja pledged the President’s commitment to put in place the needed infrastructure and develop every part of the country.

Alhaji Jaja made this remark in an interview with the Daily Graphic after he had donated 300 hundred bags of rice and 200 bags of sugar to residents of Kumasi Zongo.

This is to help vulnerable Muslims and non Muslims living in the area.

According to Alhaji Jaja, the Mahama Administration is not resting on its oars but it is working to improve the health, education, water, agriculture, infrastructure and manpower needs of the country.

He said ZFM was a society that thrived above ethnicity, individualism and regionalism and added “every resident of Zongo is free to join but would not be forced or coerced to vote for NDC.”

Alhaji Jaja reminded members in the Zongo that even though the task ahead of the NDC as a party was enormous, it believed in winning the heart and minds of Ghanaians with the good works currently being undertaken by the Mahama-led Administration across the country.

The Founder and the Chairman of ZFM, therefore, urged the youth in the Zongo communities to work tirelessly to further their education to enable them to take advantage of government’s social intervention programmes such as the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP).

Alhaji Jaja said the Zongo for Mahama movement held all residents in the Zongo communities in high esteem irrespective of their ethnicity, religion and political affiliation and would treat all equally .

He said so far as they found themselves living in the Zongos of the country where many economic activities took place, they should live in harmony with each other to enable the government to complement their efforts.

Alhaji Jaja said by living in harmony with one another, it would encourage government to partner them for development.

He, therefore, urged members of ZFM to demonstrate love, unity and peace to further boost the vision and mission of the movement.
The founder urged members to bury their differences and rally strongly behind the ZFM to ensure growth and expansion of the movement.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary for ZFM, Rabiu Mohammed, sent felicitations to President Mahama for his expression of love to the Zongo communities, especially during the holy month of fasting.

He urged ZFM to extend the activities of the movement to every corner of the country to enable dwellers in the Zongo to integrate into the larger society and contribute their quota to the development of the country.

He said that would call for the bridging of the communication gap between the hierarchy of the movement and members.

He, therefore, appealed to Alhaji Jaja to, as a matter of urgency, strengthen the communication aspect of the movement to enhance stronger collaboration, particularly at the grassroots level.
