Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister post : Prez advised to consider broad consultation

President John Dramani Mahama has been asked to consider  broad consultation as to who becomes the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister.

This has become imperative at a time the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is determined to cruise to 2016 victory with a million votes from the Ashanti Region.

Multiple sources within the NDC in the region said following the dismissal of both the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong and his deputy, Mr Joseph Yammin, recently, the appointment of the new regional minister and his deputy must be carefully considered to satisfy all factions and ethnic groups, especially the minorities.

Already, Mr Peter Anarfi-Mensah, the Headmaster of Tepa Senior High School, has been nominated by the President as the new regional minister and the nomination for his deputy has become more crucial than ever. 

Mr Tutu Asenso, an opinion leader and former constituency executive member of the NDC, has appealed to  President  Mahama to  select  the best candidate that will suit the minority ethnic groups in the Ashanti Region.

He also said it would help deepen unity within the party and bring an end to the internal wrangling and antagonism that had bedevilled the party in recent  times.

Mr Asenso believes that the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister must be an NDC person with either a northern or Volta background but who has command over both his home culture and that of the Asante people.
