The Metropolitan Police initially arrested the player at a North London address in July 2022 following a reported rape in June that year. During his detention, he faced further allegations, including two rape incidents alleged to have taken place in April and June 2021.
The footballer, who has continued to play for his club throughout the investigation, was also arrested again in February last year on suspicion of an additional sexual offence reportedly committed in February 2022.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023. A man in his 30s was arrested in July 2022. He has since been interviewed by police on two further occasions while under caution. The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are continuing with in-depth and detailed enquiries. Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers."
It was noted that no further action would be taken regarding the incident from June 2021 due to changes in legislation that had not yet come into effect at the time. The investigation is ongoing, and further inquiries are underway.
