Thrills at Annual Gold Fields tennis tournament
Gold Fields’ annual tennis tournament concluded on a high note, with participation increasing from 67 to 82 players since its inception in 2010.
This year’s tournament, sponsored by Kamit Service and Supplies Company Limited and supported by De B. Rex Fire Consults, featured a series of exciting matches across multiple categories.

In the Men’s Professional Singles, Emmanuel Amos-Abanyie defended his title by defeating Nicholas Yaw Amoah 6-1, 6-4, securing back-to-back championships. In the Women’s Singles, Eunice Minta emerged victorious over Amanda Tetteh with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
The Men’s 45+ Singles title was claimed by John Adingelah, who bested Collins Okyere 6-3, 6-3, while Osman Karim triumphed in the Social Men’s Singles, outplaying Francis Arthur 6-1, 6-0. Daniel Acquah defeated Glennise Yirenkyi 6-3, 6-2 to win the Men’s Singles Advanced Beginners' title.
In the Men’s Doubles, Jude Asiedu and Prince Avane clinched the title with a 9-6 win over Henry Asante and Albert Naamu. The Ladies’ Doubles saw Tracy Ampah and Amanda Tetteh narrowly defeat Eunice Minta and Rosaline Minta-Afari in a thrilling 9-8 (10-6) match.
Josephine Kamara took home the Ladies’ Consolation Trophy, winning 8-2 against Josephine Thompson Biney, while Ampah and Karim teamed up to win the Mixed Doubles, overcoming Eunice Minta and Albert Naamu.
In the junior divisions, Natasha Abakah won the Girls’ 14-and-Under division, with Josephine Kamara finishing second. In the Boys’ 14-and-Under division, Kimarthy Yirenkyi emerged as the champion, followed by runner-up Caleb Delali Tetteh.
Speaking at the event, Club Patron Edward Taylor praised the dedication of the players and the growth of the club over the years. “This year’s tournament has shown improvement in skills, talent, and intensity. Some matches even extended until 11:00 p.m., showcasing the dedication of our players,” he said.
