Ho Bankoe cargo truck accident: One person dead while receiving treatment in hospital

One of the two people who were injured in last Saturday's cargo truck accident at Ho Bankoe has died.

A cargo truck, which was reportedly speeding while descending the Galenkui Hill at Ho Bankoe in the Volta Region, veered into the left lane and then onto the pavement before crashing into a shop at the Ho Civic Centre.

The deceased has been identified as a 42-year-old woman. The second person, a 35-year-old man who sustained severe injuries, is still in the hospital receiving treatment.

They were both conveyed to the Ho Teaching Hospital for treatment immediately after the accident.

Sadly, the woman later died from her injuries while receiving medical care.

The crash caused damage to the front section of the truck and partially destroyed two nearby boutiques.

Preliminary investigations suggested the accident may have been caused by brake failure.
