Among a field of 64 pros, including four female golfers, Torgah dominated the leaderboard from the second day and withstood a late push from Kojo Barnni and Francis Torgah to claim the top prize. He walked away with the professional title and a cash prize of GH₵20,000.
In the senior professional category, Robert Degbe outclassed his challengers, Agbeko D and S.K. Klan, to win the top spot. Meanwhile, Vivienne Kouame put up a commendable performance to secure the women’s professional title ahead of Jessica Beals Tei, Mercy Werner, and Felicity Gyeabour.
In the amateur ranks, Hawa Britto dazzled in the Ladies Group A category, scoring an impressive 38 points to defeat Cathy Fabbi and Pamela Atila, who settled for second and third respectively. Aileen Conteh thrilled spectators in the Ladies Group B event, edging out Jacinta Bey and Naomi Akweley Addo for the top prize.
The men’s Group A category was largely dominated by Chinese nationals, with Tang Bin taking first place, followed by Fuhai Yang and Yang Lin Jack. Their performances earned them attractive prizes including television sets, air conditioners, and car batteries.
In Group B of the men’s category, Don Obilor, John Blay, Keegan Wang, and Vincent Frempong Boakye were among those who placed well and left with smiles and prizes.
Young sensation Kingsley Afful made headlines in the scratch category, posting a total of 225 points to beat Desmond Abban and Samuel Agyiri to the top spot. In the women’s senior division, Helen Appah, Beatrice, and Vetch Bempong emerged victorious.
The event also featured auxiliary awards such as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, which were enthusiastically contested.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, lauded the organisers and Giti Tyres for their continued investment in the development of the sport.
President of the Celebrity Golf Club, Mr Tang Hong, expressed his appreciation to the golfers for their participation and pledged continued support to promote golf at the grassroots and club levels.
“This tournament is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together to support sports. I am proud of what we’ve built here and even more excited about the future,” Mr Hong stated.
