I can’t be a coach, I don’t have enough patience – Kevin-Prince Boateng
Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed that he’s ruled out a future in coaching, citing his temperament and lack of patience as the main reasons.
While many retired footballers transition into coaching roles, Boateng has opted for a different path within the sport.
After briefly working under experienced manager Felix Magath during his return to Hertha Berlin in 2021, Boateng realized that coaching wasn't for him.
“I always wanted to be a coach, but then I discovered I didn’t have enough patience,” the 38-year-old told Transfer Room.
Instead, the former midfielder has turned his focus to nurturing young talent through his newly launched player agency, Rookie & Champ. The agency aims to mentor and guide up-and-coming footballers, providing them with the support and advice he wished he had during his own career.
Boateng says his new role allows him to remain close to the game while playing to his strengths off the pitch.
"I've had a lot of agents, some good and some bad. I know how it works. If you're given the wrong direction, it can sometimes be very, very difficult. So I told myself I'd love to help young players, put them on the right path, show them what's important, and keep them grounded as much as possible," he added.
