Tony Yeboah talking to the Kotoko players in the presence of stand-in coach Michael Osei

Kotoko stay put in Kumasi; Receive motivational talk from Tony Yeboah

Players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been charged by former Black Stars striker, Anthony Yeboah, to develop a tough mental attitude to ensure success in their careers, as well as Monday’s big game with Hearts of Oak at the Accra Stadium.

The former Leeds United goal poacher, who also excelled in Frankfurt and Hamburg FC in Germany, urged Kotoko players to be resolute psychologically, since football demands mental toughness, aside physical fitness.

Yeboah, who played for Kumasi Cornerstone and Okwawu United before transfering to Europe, scored some spectacular goals in his successful career.

He gave the motivational message during an interaction with the Kotoko players at his Yegoala Hotel in Kumasi last Monday as the Porcupine Warriors began preparation for their ‘Super Monday’ clash.

He noted that, although the current players are talented, they could only achieve their goals by working more on their talent.

He further advised the players to be professional, disciplined and also keep a positive attitude on and off the pitch.

The former teammate of Kotoko’s acting coach, Michael Osei at Okwawu United, therefore advised the players to be mindful of their lifestyle and wished them well in Monday’s Super clash against Hearts.

Kotoko stepped up their preparation for Monday’s encounter full of confidence they would beat the Phobians in Accra.

Two days after losing 0-1 to New Edubiase United at home, Coach Osei and his charges are leaving nothing to chance in their bid to beat their sworn rivals, Hearts, in what promises to be one of the fiercest battles played by the two sides.

Aside their normal training at Adako Jachie and the Baba Yara Stadium, Kotoko have also been working in the gym, as well as visiting the swimming pool, among others.

The team’s training schedule has been designed to further give the players adequate rest, while more tactical work is also being put together to counter any challenge Hearts would put up on the day.
