Lizzy Academy win Marcel Desailly Cup

The Lizzy Football Academy over the weekend swept all the trophies in the U-13, U-15 and U-17 divisions at the maiden Marcel Desailly Cup tournament held at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.

In the U-17 category, Lizzy Football Academy beat March FC 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 drawn game in the final.

Lizzy had eliminated Cantonments FC by a lone goal in the semi-finals before going ahead to lift the trophy.

Lizzy took home a trophy, medals and autographed jerseys of former French international Marcel Desailly.

In the U-15 division, Lizzy beat Ford 2-0, while the U-13 side thrashed Astros FC 4-1 and also received trophies, medals and autographed jerseys of Desailly.

There were individual awards for best players in the various divisions as well.

In a post-event interview with Daily Graphic, the Technical Director and organiser of the tournament, Nana Agyemang Konadu, said the tournament, which was organised in honour of Marcel Desailly, was also used to scout talents for the Lizzy Sports Academy.
