The duo were arrested last Friday and  identified by Coach Amissah, as those who assaulted him during an identification parade held by the police last Saturday. They have since been granted bail.

A police source told the Graphic Sports that some other names, including one Mena Badu, who was said to have instigated the attack, had been mentioned.

It said Mena Badu would be invited for questioning as part of the investigations after which the suspects would be arraigned before court by the close of the week.

It will be recalled that Graphic Sports in its May 30, 2016 edition carried a story about an attack on the head coach of Elmina Sharks which left him unconcious after  rampaging fans had taken the law into their own hands during their league clash with Sekondi-based Proud United at the Sekondi Gyandu Park.

He was later revived at a hospital where he was  treated of head injuries and bruises.

Coach Amissah on regaining consciousness mentioned Kojo Peace and Badu Bodee as those who allegedly masterminded the unprovoked attack on him and said he could identify them if the opportunity availed itself.

He recounted the events  that led to the attack on  him, saying “ some supporters of Eleven Wise had threatened  me  on radio, warning me not to step foot in Sekondi or I will see blood”.

The threats, according to Coach Amissah, were in reaction to an interview he granted earlier on Aseda FM, a local radio station, during which he responded to the threats by saying he would curse anyone who assaulted him in Sekondi.

“Later I realised I should not have said that because I was angry and emotional at the time of the interview and so I went further to apologise but these supporters of Eleven Wise would not listen and kept threatening me”, he explained.

He said just when he and his team were about to leave the Gyandu Park after their match against Proud United which they won, Kojo Peace, who he said was a known Eleven Wise supporter, confronted him on the comment he had made earlier on radio.

He said he quickly apologised for the statement he had made  but  Peace would not budge and started heckling and pushing him.

This, the  Sharks coach said, attracted some players, who attempted to intervene but  Peace overpowered them and, later joined by  Badu Bodee and some unidentified supporters,  they gave him a sound beating.

He said officials of Elmina Sharks later reported the incident to the Sekondi Police.

Meanwhile, Coach Amissah who says he is doing better told the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday that, “It is good the two suspects have been arrested and I’m hoping that the law will take its course”.
