Ghana Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, 73, has expressed his pride and commitment to continuing in his role after signing a contract extension on Wednesday, September 2.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account on Thursday, September 3, Queiroz described coaching Ghana as more than simply managing a football team, saying it is a privilege, responsibility and national mission.
He said he was honoured to serve Ghana, which he described as one of Africa’s great football nations with a passionate fan base.
“Serving Ghana is far more than coaching a football team. It is a privilege, a responsibility and a mission to honour one of Africa’s greatest football nations and its incredible and passionate football People."
The Portuguese coach also praised the Black Stars’ players, technical staff and the Ghana Football Association for their performance during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final competition, particularly under challenging circumstances.

According to Queiroz, their courage, discipline and commitment helped restore confidence, competitiveness and national pride.
With his contract extension secured, Queiroz said a “new chapter” has begun for the Black Stars.
He identified the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as the team’s immediate major objective and described the tournament as an important stepping stone towards building a stronger Ghana side capable of competing successfully at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz outlined four key ambitions for his continued tenure: continuous improvement, national unity, strengthening the Black Stars and competing for every victory with passion, humility and pride.
“The Africa Cup of Nations is much more than our next destination — it is the golden gateway to building the Black Stars that will shine and proudly compete at the 2030 FIFA World Cup."
“Our ambition is clear: improve every day, unite the nation, make Ghana stronger and fight for every victory with passion, humility and pride."
He ended his statement with a rallying call that seeks to unite the team and supporters behind a common purpose: “One Team. One Nation. 35 Million Hearts. One Heartbeat.”
Queiroz's message signals his determination to build on the progress made at the 2026 World Cup while using the AFCON campaign as part of a broader plan to establish a competitive and united Black Stars team for the 2030 World Cup.
