Roberto Carlos denies rumours of living at Real Madrid training ground amid divorce

Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has strongly denied rumours that he has been residing at the club’s training facility, Valdebebas, following his divorce from his wife of 15 years, Mariana Luccon.

The allegations

Reports emerged claiming that the Brazilian icon, known for his illustrious career with the Spanish giants, had temporarily moved to the training ground after separating from Luccon. The couple, who married in 2009, share two daughters, Manuela and Mariana. It was alleged that Luccon remained in the family home while her parents occupied another of Carlos’ properties. The divorce has reportedly been complicated by the former footballer’s considerable wealth, estimated at £133 million ($166 million).

Carlos responds

Carlos took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to refute the claims, branding them as "false and damaging." He described the rumours as an attempt to generate clicks at the expense of his privacy.

“In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family. While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumours about my living situation,” Carlos wrote.

“These fabricated stories are entirely false and seem designed to generate clicks. I remain at a private residence, supported by members of my family. My legal team is reviewing these claims and will take appropriate action.”

He concluded by requesting privacy during this challenging period and thanking supporters for their unwavering support.

History of headlines

Carlos’ personal life has frequently drawn media attention. A decade ago, the legendary left-back revealed he has 11 children with seven different women, a fact that added to his reputation as a colourful personality. Speaking at the time, he said, “I have seven [children] in Brazil, one in Mexico, one in Hungary, and the others live in Brazil.”

Iconic career

Regarded as one of the greatest left-backs in football history, Carlos enjoyed a remarkable 11-year tenure at Real Madrid. During this time, he played a crucial role in the team’s success, winning three Champions League titles and four La Liga crowns.

What lies ahead

As the divorce proceedings continue, Carlos remains focused on maintaining his legacy and protecting his family. Despite the speculation, he is determined to move forward, ensuring that baseless rumours do not overshadow his remarkable achievements on the pitch.
