
Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd. clarifies incident at Mpatoam
Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd. (“Asanko” or the “Company”) wishes to provide the following statement regarding an incident that occurred at its concession near Mpatoam on September 9, 2025.
The incident involved a confrontation between military personnel and community members on the Company’s operating concessions in the Amansie South District of Ghana. The military presence forms part of the state-mandated security intervention, coordinated through the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
Tensions escalated within the local community, leading to civil unrest, an attack on the military camps and an invasion of the mining operational areas. These events led to a fatality and significant damages to contractor equipment.
The Company shares in the community’s grief over the tragic loss of life and extends its heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time.
Asanko is working closely with local authorities, government officials, and community leaders to address the situation. The Company remains committed to maintaining constructive dialogue with all stakeholders as investigations proceed.
