ASA Savings and loans plants 150 trees at Dunkwa-on-Offin
ASA Savings and Loans has planted more than 150 tree seedlings at the Dunkwa Senior High Technical School in the Central Region to mark the Green Ghana Day.

The trees are expected to help the school protect its vast land from encroachers.
The exercise is part of the 2,000 tree seedlings pledged to be planted and nurtured in various parts of the country every year.
The financial institution responded to a request made by the Forestry Commission to plant the 150 tree seedlings of different species including casia, toningii, orange and golden rain at the compound of the school.
The initiative forms part of the company's corporate social responsibility to the communities.
The Dunkwa-On-Offin Business Manager of the company, Graham Kyei Kwakye, in an interview after the exercise at the school on June 9, called for massive support for the Green Ghana Day exercise.
According to him, Ghanaians must continuously step out and contribute to the planting of trees on the Green Ghana Day.
He said to support the exercise ASA Savings and Loans has pledged to plant and nurture over 2,000 tree seedlings in various parts of the country.
Towards that, he said the financial institution was planting 150 tree seedlings which would be nurtured to grow.
“ASA tree planting exercise is unique because we provide fencing for some of the plants and we would be visiting the place regularly to ensure the trees survive.
“We decided to embark on this exercise to augment the government’s Green Ghana initiative and Dunkwa Secondary Technical School was chosen per advice from the Forestry Commission,” he said.
He stated that the institution has been participating in the exercise but this year it decided to take a further step by planting 2,000 trees annually and would ensure it continues every year.
He said the financial institution injected GH¢5,000 to plant the over 150 tree seedlings in the school.
“We intend to help green the country with this initiative to sustain the environment.
“We have been having CSR activities every year, last year for instance, we undertook a free health screening for the community,” he added.
Appreciation
The Headmistress of the school, Patience Larko Lartey, expressed appreciation for the gesture to support the school to green its environment.
She said the tree planting was very important to the school because it would help prevent encroachers from taking over its vast land.
She appealed for support from various stakeholders to help boost the school’s infrastructure to help improve teaching and learning.
