Auditor-General lauds government for new office complex
The Auditor General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, has lauded government’s efforts towards retooling the audit service through the commissioning of new offices for its operations.
Currently, the government, with support from the German government is handing over newly constructed offices across the regions for the audit service.

Speaking at the commissioning of one of the office’s at Asamankese, the head of the audit service said that the drive would aid the office effectively undertake its responsibilities.
Accommodation
According to the Auditor-General, the service has in the past years struggled with office accommodation challenges stressing that they had to rely on district assemblies to provide them with office spaces and in some instances they had to rent same.
"Until recently, the state of our office accommodation was very pathetic. This been because about 70 per cent office accommodation were given to us by the respective assemblies. Only 30 per cent being offices belonging to the audit service," Mr Asiedu said.
He however stressed that the government’s commitment in establishing the district and regional offices has gone a long way to support their activities.
"We are grateful to the government of Ghana, for the unwavering support to accountability institutions and agencies," he added.
He further noted that the construction of such buildings will help in keeping the service independent.
