A commercial minibus (trotro) crashed into the fence wall of the private residence of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Nima on the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2025, injuring three people and causing considerable property damage.

The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., shocked residents and passers-by, with many rushing to the scene. The cause of the crash remains unconfirmed, but eyewitnesses suspect mechanical failure.

The trotro, according to multiple reports veered off the road before ramming into the wall of the former president’s residence, which is located near the Nima Police Station—a high-traffic area that links Nima to key destinations like Accra Central, Osu, and Nkrumah Circle.

The injured, including the mate and two passengers, were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The driver was arrested and is currently assisting police with investigations at the Nima Police Station.
