The school was represented by Surayatu Dramani and Adjene Baba Frank, both in Level 300, who received a sum of GH¢3,000 and a certificate each, while their Hotel Catering  lecturer, Mr Frank Baba Ajene, received a certificate for guiding the students.  They prepared millet jollof with guinea fowl using evaporated milk.

Participants in the competition  were allowed to prepare a meal and dessert using their own recipes to unearth their cooking talents and showcase how Ideal Milk could be used in a variety of dishes.

The first runner-up, Kumasi Polytechnic, received GH¢ 2,000 with certificates while the second runner-up, Tamale Polytechnic, received GH¢1,000 with certificates.

The event, dubbed, ”idealicious cooking challenge,” was to promote creativity and allow students to demonstrate their cooking abilities by using evaporated milk beyond its traditional use in tea and porridge.

The students

The Category Manager for Dairy, NGL, Mr Ladislas Maurice, said the students would serve as ambassadors of  NGL by educating the public on how to use milk in other dishes apart from its traditional use. Participants,he said, were students studying Home Economics in their various schools.

Those students, he added, would soon be working in most of the restaurants nationwide, explaining that the experience they had acquired  from the idealicious cooking challenge would be replicated in their profession.

A representative from the Ghana Home Economics Association, Ms Audrey Kwakyewaa Akyeampong, commended NGL for its awareness creation on the benefits of Ideal Milk to the public, adding that “Ideal Milk is not only for breakfast, but also for a wide variety of local dishes.”
