Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber hails Indian PM Modi’s visit as boost to Ghana-India economic relations
The Ghana India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC) has warmly welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ghana, describing his historic visit as a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
President of GITAC, Dr Dominic Oduro Antwi, said the visit represents “a pivotal step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, entrepreneurship, education, and healthcare.”
He added that the Chamber is optimistic that the Prime Minister’s presence will catalyse new investments and accelerate existing collaborations across various sectors.
Founded to promote trade and economic collaboration between Ghana and India, GITAC has emerged as a key conduit between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and India’s business community. Through strategic partnerships, the Chamber has supported initiatives spanning culture, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, and technology transfer.
GITAC has also been instrumental in organising high-level forums and trade missions that connect businesses from both countries. These initiatives have not only facilitated trade deals but have encouraged joint ventures and job creation, particularly in local industries.
“The presence of Prime Minister Modi in Ghana is not only historic but also timely,” Dr Antwi noted. “It is a powerful endorsement of the work GITAC has been doing for years in bridging the gap between our two nations. We are confident that this visit will catalyse more investments, encourage deeper economic cooperation, and open new avenues for trade, technology, and cultural exchange.”
The Chamber has over the years maintained close ties with Indian-owned businesses and multinational companies operating in Ghana. Its activities have contributed to a more favourable environment for Indian investors in the country, while also promoting Ghanaian businesses seeking partnerships on the subcontinent.
As the Prime Minister’s visit progresses, both governments are expected to sign new agreements and launch joint initiatives that could strengthen their long-standing relationship.
GITAC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting these developments and called on stakeholders to seize the opportunity to advance a shared vision of growth and prosperity.
