GRIDCo is not 'broke'- Amoako-Baah
The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Mr Jonathan Amoako-Baah has debunked claims that the company lacks funds for its expansion works hence the intermittent power outages in the country.
He said GRIDCo has enough funds for the maintenance works but requires external funding for bigger projects.
“We have fund enough to undertake routine maintenance, emergency maintenance but then for bigger projects, we require external funding”, he said.

He further stated that they have secured funds for ongoing projects at Kasoa, Pokuase, and Tema-Achimota-Mallam among others.
For his part, the Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh said the government has put in place a mechanism where every generator, transmitter, distributor of electricity is paid regularly.
