Hisense Ghana has made a contribution to Ghana’s healthcare delivery with the donation of its advanced Hisense H60 Ultrasound Diagnostic System to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
The gesture reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting essential medical services across the country.
In a statement, the company said the donation targets one of the most critical needs in Ghana’s healthcare system: reliable diagnostic imaging. Ultrasound remains the primary non-invasive diagnostic tool used by clinicians nationwide, especially for obstetric and gynaecological assessments, abdominal emergencies and cardiac evaluations. With teaching hospitals often managing high patient volumes, the availability of modern ultrasound equipment is crucial for accurate diagnosis and improved outcomes.
Hisense describes the H60 as a clinically validated and globally trusted system. The company notes that its ultrasound products are used in more than 20 major hospitals in China and have supported over 50,000 complex diagnostic cases. The H60’s advanced image processing and intuitive interface allow clinicians to make clearer and faster assessments, enhancing early diagnosis and treatment in critical care, emergency units and paediatric departments.
The system also offers high throughput capacity, enabling doctors to attend to more patients without compromising the accuracy or quality of imaging. This is designed to ease workflow pressures in teaching hospitals where long queues and heavy caseloads are common challenges.
The latest donation builds on Hisense Ghana’s established record of supporting frontline health institutions through targeted corporate social responsibility initiatives. In 2020, the company donated two fully equipped ambulances valued at $90,000 to the Apinto Government Hospital and the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital to support emergency response and referral services. It also made its first ultrasound donation to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, marking the beginning of its investment in diagnostic imaging.
In 2023, Hisense Ghana donated an advanced ultrasound system valued at more than $50,000 to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), equipping the nation’s leading training facility with tools for student learning and clinical research.
Hisense says its donation of the H60 to KATH and TTH is part of an ongoing commitment to strengthening Ghana’s medical infrastructure and supporting the training of healthcare professionals. The company expressed confidence that the new systems will enhance diagnostic capacity, ease clinical workloads and contribute to better health outcomes for patients across the two major hospitals.
