Mawuena Trebah appointed acting CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Council
Mrs Mawuena Dumor Trebah has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council.
She takes over from Mr George Aboagye, who has been elected as a Member of Parliament for Ahanta West on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

President John Dramani Mahama announced Mrs Trebah's appointment in a press release which also announced the nomination of twelve persons for Ministerial positions in his government on Sunday night.
Mrs Trebah worked as a Corporate Affairs Executive of MTN Ghana, a mobile telecommuncations company and a Communications Manager at Newmont Ghana Limited, a gold mining company.
Until her exit from the telecommunications company, Mawuena was the face of MTN. Most of the public that had business to do as well as the patrons of the MTN network identified Mawuena with MTN.
She is a graduate of the University of Jos in the Plateau State of Nigeria, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Mining in September 1996.
She later
studied for an MBA in Management and Strategic Planning at the McCallum
Graduate School of Business, Bentley College, Waltham, Maryland in the USA, in
2002.
Before then she had worked with Ashanti
Goldfields as the Investment Relations Officer.
She later joined Newmont Ghana (2003 to 2007) as Manager, Communications.

Mawuena moved on to MTN in 2007 as
Corporate Services Executive and resigned in August 2011.
During her stay with MTN, she developed, managed
and executed an overall reputation management strategy for the company.
She was
also responsible for the promotion of the company’s image in all areas of the
business within Ghana through communications strategies, including regular
interaction with the media, trade and interest groups, government officials and
other stakeholders.
Mawuena is the first of three children of Prof.
Ernest Dumor, a sociologist and former member of the Electoral Commission and
head of the National Identification Authority, and the late Mrs Cecilia Dumor.
Komla Dumor of BBC and Dr Korshie Dumor are her young siblings.
