Stanchart Ghana supports Countryside Orphanage

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has provided support to the Countryside Orphanage at Bawjiase in the Central Region as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The bank visited the home to interact with the children and also donated used clothing, shoes, bags of rice and paints to support the home.

Some staff of the bank also helped in painting some of the structures while others helped in clearing the weeds.

The Mother of the house, Mrs Emma Boafo Yeboah, expressed her gratitude to Stanchart and also called on corporate bodies to help the home revive its agribusiness.

The home has a farmland and also engages in other agricultural activities with the hope of achieving self-reliance in food production to ensure adequate food security for the children.

Mrs Yeboah said there had been a high incidence of robberies in the home over the years which had led to the collapse of the agribusiness.

“Four months ago, thieves stole 12 of our big cows, followed by the stealing of 26 of our ducks as well as some crops from the farm”, she said.

She said this had compelled the orphanage to fence the land area for protection.
