In what is expected to be a highly competitive contest, students from all walks of life are expected to either throng the venue or watch proceedings on the various social media handles of Graphic as they lend their support to encourage the contestants.

Master Fiadufe Defor Success, the lead contestant of the UEW team, told the Graphic Business that the two other schools should expected a shocker from him and his mates.

“We are going to defend our title, it is going to be a keen contest but I know we will come out victorious," he told the Graphic Business.

Readiness

Peter Emeka Ike, the team leader of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) said, they have strategised to maintain their composure, stay calm when under pressure to enable them to execute a surprise in the first two rounds of the contest to provide them the grounds to win their first trophy.

"We intend to outwit our opponents with smart calculations in the first two rounds and dominate in the third round to stand a chance of winning the trophy for the first time," he told the Graphic Business.

However Japheth Adeleke of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has other ideas.

He said they are relying on God to answer all questions and dominate the first three rounds.

"We expect nothing but the best to win by God's grace and we are just hoping we answer all the questions in all the rounds correctly, the rest we leave it to God," he said.

The quartet of Peter Emeka Ikea, Jonathan Sowah Nii Nai, Prince Ascod Bordoh  and Edwin Entsiey will do the battle for UGBS.

The UGBS, the third school to make it to the final is the only school among the three that has not won the competition. This is also their first time in the final.

The school believes strongly that with its quartet of Lawrencia Nelson, Obed Eyiah Arhin, Manasseh Amoah and Abdul Samed-Abdulahi, it can claim its first trophy since the competition began in 2019.

This was echoed by Coach Dan Owusu Amponsah who said his charges are preparing actively towards the final.

“Basically we are solving as many questions as possible. Our focus is on all the rounds, we are working to do better  in each round,” he stated.

He also praised the knowledge of the four students representing the school and gave credit to patrons of the school for their support.

“The team had been on campus preparing seriously towards the final event though school is on vacation. They were on campus studying to catch up and work on the weaknesses they identified,” Samuel Gameli Gadzo, the coach said.

He added that the quartet will put up their best performance as defending champions to retain the trophy and have reserved it best for the final.

Quiz-master

Quiz-master Alhassan Trawule on his part said, the three finalists were the best in the various stages of the competition.

He said all three were zonal champions and have dispatched their opponents effortlessly.

“Now they have no one else but themselves to contend with; this is going to be tough. I see the three schools equally matched and aiming for history,” he said.

Fast facts

A win for either UEW or KNUST will see them equal UCC’s record as the schools with the most titles which is two apiece.
