MAKEUP artist and entrepreneur Roselyn Mantey is going for a second Guinness World Records title, but this time, she's not doing it alone.
On October 21, 2026, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra, Roselyn will attempt to set the record for the Largest Makeup Application Lesson, teaching over 1,000 people to apply makeup at the same time, following her instructions live.
It's a different kind of challenge from her first. In 2024, she broke the record for the Longest Marathon Applying Makeup, spending 103 hours, 25 minutes and 33 seconds on it between April 3 and 7.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz on Sunday, September 13, Roselyn, who is the CEO of Rossyglams Artistry, said her new shot at the GWR was more about turning a personal journey into a collective one.
She is using her craft to open doors for young Ghanaians hoping to build careers out of their talents.
She explained that the new attempt is driven by a purpose beyond personal achievement.
“The first shot was largely about pushing my personal limits and proving what was possible. This time, I want to make it a collective effort.
“I want 1000 people to participate in learning and gaining practical knowledge. I want this to move from ‘me making history’ to ‘us making history’.
“My goal is not just to break a record but to create an experience that can inspire people to believe that their skills can become legitimate and profitable careers,” she disclosed.
Roselyn says her first attempt taught her that talent isn't enough on its own.
“It takes discipline and the will to keep going when things get hard. It showed me that going in for a Guinness World Records title is not just about talent; it requires discipline, preparation, endurance and a strong mental attitude.
“I came out of that experience stronger and more knowledgeable about what such a project demands”, she added.
Also, faith played a major role in her decision to try again.
“When God gives you a vision, you have to be willing to keep moving forward, even when the journey is difficult.
“This time, I am not approaching it with the mindset of simply trying to prove myself. I am approaching it with more experience, better preparation and a much bigger purpose”, she added.
The response has been bigger than expected. Roselyn is aiming to train 1,000 people at once, but has already received about 4,000 entries.
She'll lead the session herself, with all participants following her instructions simultaneously.
“Makeup is more than beauty to me; it is a skill that can create opportunities. Over the years, I have trained and mentored many young women, and I have seen how learning a practical skill can give someone confidence, independence and a source of income.
“It is also a way of showing the rest of the world that Ghana has talented young people and that the beauty industry can be a serious avenue for skills development and entrepreneurship,” she pointed out.
For Roselyn, the real win isn't the title; it's what people walk away with.
“I want someone who participates in that lesson to go home and say, ‘I have learnt a skill that I can build a business around.’
“I want young women, especially to understand that they don’t always have to wait for a traditional job before they can become financially independent.
“Skills can become businesses when you combine them with professionalism, discipline, branding, marketing and entrepreneurship.
“So, I want this to become a platform for skills development, mentorship and women's empowerment,” she added.
