Rhythms On Da Runway (RODR), a major showcase that blends African fashion, live musical performances and cultural celebration, is set to break away from the traditional fashion runway with its 16th edition, themed “UNBOUND”.
The event, scheduled for November 28 at the Palms Convention Centre, will celebrate fashion, music and individual expression without limits.
Described by the BBC as “the biggest cultural exposé in Africa”, RODR, organised by 1957 Events has, over the years, brought together fashion designers, musicians, models and other creative industry players.
This year, however, organisers are taking the concept a step further by opening the runway to people of different abilities, backgrounds, body types and personal stories.
According to media personality and CEO of 1957 Events, Cookie Tee, the idea behind “UNBOUND” is that if fashion is made for everyone, everyone should be able to see themselves in it.
“The concept challenges the traditional ideas of who belongs on the runway, with model casting, fashion collections and stories told through clothing reflecting a wider range of experiences.
“The event will also combine fashion with live music and an all-star cast of celebrity models, with designers and music stars from Ghana and across the African diaspora expected to feature,” she said.
Beyond the glamour of the runway, Cookie Tee also disclosed that the 2026 edition would create opportunities for young people to learn from established designers, gain practical experience and explore careers in fashion and the wider creative industry.
It will also open conversations around adaptive fashion, accessible event design, talent discovery, mentorship and employment.
Organisers said the theme provides opportunities for sponsors, development organisations and donors to support disability inclusion, youth training, creative enterprise and accessible experiences.
Also, such support could help new talent enter the industry and create practical pathways into Africa’s growing Orange Economy.
The evening will also feature the Black Star Awards, which will honour public figures shaping Africa’s future through bold leadership, transformative development and contributions to the continent’s creative economy.
