A HUSBAND for Daddy, a movie, written and directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso will premiere on online portal for films, www.moovee.movie tomorrow, Friday, July 26.
Moovee is an initiative by MTech Communications Limited to push Ghanaian content digitally to a much wider audience.
At a press launch and private screening of the movie, which came off at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Saturday, July 20, CEO of MTech, Chimere Mbonu said they wanted to make watching movies exciting.
“This initiative was developed for Ghana and in Ghana where Ghanaians and movie fans all over the world can go to and watch movies with a whole lot of convenience and flexibility.
“Regardless of where one is, with just the click of a button, movie fans can watch high quality Ghanaian movies in comfort anytime. It saves fans stress and it offers a lot of affordability in terms of rates,” he told Showbiz.
A Husband For Daddy stars some of Ghana’s top actors including Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Yvonne Okoro, James Gardiner, Master Richard, Kofi Adjorlolo, Joselyn Dumas, Andrew Adote and Grace Omaboe and some of them showed up at the press launch and screening.
It’s a story about how twin sisters; Sandra played by Jackie Appiah and Belinda (Yvonne Okoro) develop a hatred for each other after the death of their mother.
In order to help them find themselves, their father, Mr Ceasar played by Kofi Adjorlolo, gives them an ultimatum to find husbands before he undergoes a brain surgery.
How will they do this in a short time and will they be able to meet their father’s deadline? Will they find the right kind of guys their dad will approve of? All of these questions and more are what we can look forward to getting answered in A Husband for Daddy.
In an interview with Showbiz, Jackie Appiah lauded the movie by MTech. “It is a step in the right direction. This will go a long way to improve our industry, you do not have to go to the cinema and think of all the traffic and hustle etc. With this, in the comfort of your home, you are good to go,” she said.
Yvonne Okoro on the other hand described the movie as a must watch. “It is the kind of movie that everybody has to watch, great lessons, great production,” she said.
On playing Jackie Appiah’s twin sister, Yvonne said, “this is not the first time, we have done this before and so it was great and the chemistry was there. I played the role of a hard sister while Jackie played the church girl and I got the chance to teach her one or two things.”
