The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled a planned maintenance exercise in the Ashanti Region for Friday, 10th April 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to several communities in the region's eastern corridor.

According to an advisory issued by the power distributor, the planned maintenance will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, a four-hour outage affecting Konongo, Juaso, Obogu, Asankare, Banso, Nyaboo, Patrensa, Juansa, Agogo, and surrounding areas. The exercise is aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the power network in this part of the Ashanti Region.

The announcement comes just days after the ECG conducted an emergency maintenance operation in the same region on Friday, 3rd April 2026, which ran from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. That nine-hour exercise affected a sweeping list of communities including Chirano, Nambro, Subri, Anhwiaso, Achease, Kwamekrom, K D Sereso, Bibiani, Mensin Gold, Tanodumase, Nyinahin, Koffuor Camp, Bayerebon, Nagole, Ntoborosso, Adobewura, Nhwiafutu, Kotkuom, Akorabokrom, Agogoso, Anyinamso 1 and 2, and surrounding areas.

The back-to-back maintenance activities in the Ashanti Region reflect the ECG's ongoing efforts to address both urgent network issues and planned infrastructure improvements. While the emergency operation on 3rd April targeted mining communities and their environs, the upcoming planned exercise on 10th April focuses on towns along the Konongo-Agogo corridor, an area with significant residential and commercial activity.

In its public notice, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities. The company, however, reassured the public that the planned exercise is necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers in the Ashanti Region.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly for the four-hour interruption, with the ECG assuring that engineers will work to complete the upgrades within the scheduled timeframe and restore power promptly upon completion.
