‘Afternoon Jump’ to bring back old memories
The popular tunes in the 70s and 80s such as Every Breathe You Take and I Want To Know What Love Is will be relived today at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra an event dubbed, “Afternoon Jump”.

Organised by the 74 year group of Wesley Girls Senior High School, the occasion is to bring back the jamming era of the period and in the words of Ms Esther Cobbah, President of the 74 year group, “To bring back memories of good old days”.
Just as in the 1970s, patrons are expected to turn up in their bell trousers, afro wigs, flare cloaks and fancy walking sticks to re-enact the nostalgic moments.
Together with other old students, the 74 year group will dance down memory lane to some popular ‘old school’ tunes as they raise funds to support brilliant, needy students in the school.
Starr FM’s Dj Blow will be behind the turntables and he is expected to dish out some gold old tunes such as Lionel Richie’s Endless Love, Van Halen’s Jump and Eye of the Tiger by Survivor.
Ms Esther Cobbah said even though the event was expected to bring old students of Gey Hey together and to socialise, it had a bigger aim of raising funds to support the needy and underprivileged students who were unable to meet their financial obligations.
“As a contribution to our alma mater, the 74 Year Group has set up a foundation from which resources can be drawn to support the education of needy students who would normally not be able to make it to Wesley Girls due to financial constraints.”
“In addition, the foundation will support the maintenance of the school’s infrastructure and contribute to teacher welfare as well,” Ms Cobbah said.

She called on all Wey Gey Hey old students, especially the 74 year group, to make the event a memorable one, adding, “the good old days may not come back, but we can still bring back all the goodness they held”.
