AGUS Festival to promote Highlife music in Switzerland   

THE Association of Ghanaian Unions Switzerland (AGUS) is set to host a concert from Friday, June 30 to Saturday, july1, 2023 as part of its commitment to promote Highlife music and increase its patronage.

The concert which forms part of activities marking the two-day annual AGUS Festival takes place at Helvetaplatz-Zurich, Switzerland AND is also intended to intensify Highlife as relevant music genre with regards to international music.

Making the list of Highlife artistes who will rock the concert are Oheneba Kissi, Adane Best, KK Fosu, Kwaisey Pee, Dada KD, Okyeame Kwame, Dada Hafco, Epixode and Aka Blay.

There will be supporting acts such as Habyba, Stylish Mikay, Shaibu the Shaiguy, Jennifer Throne, Bless Sowah among others.

In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, Media and Communications Executive of AGUS, Philip Wangyimba(Wangyims) said “the purpose of the event is to showcase Ghanaian cultural heritage and also start the preservation of Highlife music as an intangible asset recognised by UNESCO.

“This is the first ever Highlife music open-air concert to be staged in Switzerland with Ghanaian artistes. I believe in Highlife music and this festival aims at projecting the music style to Ghanaians and music lovers across the world.

“This is the fourth edition of AGUS Festival and we believe with our little contributions to Highlife music which is the true and authentic music from Ghana, our efforts will be much appreciated,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to the Chairperson of National Folklore Board, Madam Bernice Deh-Kumah and the Vice President of the Creative Arts Agency, Frank Kwabena Owusu popularly known as Frankie 5 for their unwavering support to make the event successful.
