Titled ‘Waate’, (Time in the Bambara language), the piece  interrogates the hybrid post-colonial identities and the socio- economic complexities of their various countries.

Curently based at the campus of Noyam African Dance Institute in Dodowa, near Accra, the group has been rehearsing and engaging in workshops with members of Noyam Dance Group, who will also be on stage during the performance.

Directed by Felix Ofosu Dompreh, ‘Waate’ is set to showcase the beauty and diversity of cross-cultural collaborations.

Dancers in the Kuyum Arts group include Foli Adjo Delali, Aholou-Wokawui Kossi Sebastien (Togo) and Hamadou Sanogo (Mali).

Also on stage will be Sena Atsugah, a dance student at the University of Ghana, Legon, who will  open the show with a solo piece titled “Alone”.

Atsugah created  the choreographic work early this year during a residency in the Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou.

Institut Français (Ghana) and Alliance Française (Accra) and Noyam African Dance Institute are supporting the performance.
