BBNaija is satanic – Catholic priest

A Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Prince Chidi Philip, has stated that the popular reality TV show Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) is not just a form of entertainment but a "satanic distraction" that Christians must reject.

In a strongly-worded Facebook post sighted by Graphic Showbiz, the clergyman denounced the programme’s content, which he described as morally degrading and spiritually harmful.

According to him, the show is saturated with nudity, vulgarity, emotional manipulation and other elements that contradict Christian values.

"BBNaija is not just a show, it’s a satanic distraction. Christians, turn it off," Rev. Fr. Philip wrote. "Would Jesus sit down with you and watch BBNaija? If your answer is no, then why are you still watching it?"

He argued that the show serves as a spiritual weapon cloaked in glamour, lights, and seduction. For the priest, the growing acceptance of such content by Christian viewers reveals a disturbing moral decline in society.

“We’ve reached a generation where nudity, vulgarity, and immoral living are streamed into our living rooms, and we call it ‘fun.’ We laugh at what makes God weep. We support what drags souls to hell.”

Rev. Fr. Philip emphasized that what individuals consume through the media influences their character, spirituality, and relationship with God. He warned that continued exposure to the show's themes of sexual immorality, profanity, and toxic competition desensitizes viewers, especially the youth, to sin.

“What you watch, shapes what you worship,” he stated. “You say you love God but you binge-watch sin. You claim you want to hear the Holy Spirit, but your ears are tuned to housemates cursing, fighting, and seducing each other.”

Citing Bible verses including Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and Psalm 101:3, the priest urged Christians to resist conforming to worldly pleasures and instead pursue holiness and purity.

He concluded with a passionate appeal:

“If you’re a parent, block it. If you’re a youth leader, preach against it. If you’re a Christian, unsubscribe from it. Because the longer we keep silent, the louder hell celebrates. It’s time to choose — holiness or housemates?”
