Broda Sammy: Some of my colleagues only collaborate with English-speaking artistes
Ghanaian gospel singer Broda Sammy has voiced his concerns over what he describes as selective collaboration practices within the gospel music industry.
According to him, some artistes only choose to work with musicians who speak English, sidelining others based on language and personal preferences.
Speaking on the Asetena Pa show with Akoto Mansa, Broda Sammy revealed that he has observed a trend where certain gospel musicians align themselves with artistes who fit a particular image, rather than embracing diversity within the industry.
“In this industry, some people pretend to be united, but they only work with those who speak English or share their ideologies. If you don’t belong to their circle, they won’t even consider you for a collaboration.”

When asked about the possibility of working with renowned gospel musicians like Diana Hamilton and Kofi Owusu Peprah, Broda Sammy stated that while he was open to collaborating with them, he would not be the one to initiate it.
“If they reach out, I have no problem, but I won’t go to them. I’ve seen how things work in this industry, and I won’t beg anyone for a collaboration,” he remarked.
The gospel artiste further criticised what he sees as hypocrisy within the gospel fraternity, pointing out that while many of his colleagues publicly advocate for Christian values, their private actions often contradict their teachings.
