The incident leading to Kenny’s death reportedly took place the late hours of Sunday at Bar 38 Nightclub in Fadeyi area of Lagos State.

The Police PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin said investigation into the incident has commenced after tweets from the deceased's family and friends went viral this morning.

Hundeyin confirmed that the suspect abandoned his car and fled on foot.

He wrote, “We commenced investigation minutes after the incident happened. The suspect abandoned his car and fled on foot. The car and the documents in it are in our custody. Investigation is ongoing.”

In a report by popular Nollywood blog, Linda Ikeji, it mentioned that narrations by eyewitnesses indicate that a fracas started at about 9pm when the accused who is said to be a former signee of singer, Davido, refused to pay his bill of N52,000.

He was said to be making his way out of the night club without paying the bill when a bouncer stationed at the entrance stopped him. The suspect was said to have engaged the bouncer in an altercation and the deceased who was at the club at the time decided to intervene.

The deceased is said to have stepped in between the men to forestall any fight when the accused pulled out his gun and allegedly shot him in the stomach.  He was said to have died on the spot.

A friend of the deceased came online to demand for justice. Reacting via his Twitter handle this morning, the spokesperson of the police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, says an investigation has commenced into the incident.
