Is Tonto Dikeh’s new single – Sugar Rush Ft. D’Banj a copycat Mavin’s DoroBucci?
Tonto Dikeh AKA Poke Lee, the Duchess of DB Records has just dropped a snippet of her new single titled “Sugar Rush” which features D’Banj who now calls himself Banga Lee.

Looking at comments on music blogs like NotJustOk, a lot are saying it sounds just like Dorobucci by Don Jazzy and the Mavins. Publicist Egor Effiok (who has represented Monalisa Chinda, Oge Okoye and others) even wrote an open letter dissing D’Banj and saying he copied Don Jazzy.
According to Egor Efiok, Tonto is okay on her own, so this isn’t about her.
In an interview with Nigeriafilms.com, she said “I dislike D’banj since he stabbed his true friend, Don Jazzy, in the back. He is very arrogant, while Don Jazzy on the other hand, is extremely humble”
“D’banj signing on Tonto and adding the corny ‘Lee’ after all their names is reminiscent of the talented Mavin group and the ‘Doro’ prefixes to their names; albeit a poor copycat version.”
“D’banj should be ashamed of himself. He abandoned Don Jazzy for Kanye and after the latter dumped him, he came back to Nigeria with his tail between his legs. He wasn’t even invited to their wedding”
“D’banj has been doling out crap since he left Don Jazzy and even spoilt Iyanya’s Kukere with his nonsense remix.”
She also stated that D’banj should stick to being a businessman and stop copying Don Jazzy.
“If he clips his ego and goes back to beg IDJA, I’m sure he’d take him back cos he has a good heart”.
